What you should know about the job

You face challenges like

  • designing and developing high-precision lens and optomechanical systems from concept to serial production

  • performing optical and mechanical simulations, interpreting results, and optimizing for performance, cost, manufacturability, and environmental factors

  • integrating lens systems seamlessly into complex assemblies while balancing aesthetics, functionality, and packaging constraints

  • leading prototyping, testing, validation, and root-cause analysis to ensure design intent and system reliability are achieved

  • creating and maintaining comprehensive engineering documentation such as DFMEA, DVP&R, EBOM, and Engineering Statements of Work

  • collaborating across disciplines—optics, mechanical, design studio, CAE, and suppliers—to align on technical solutions and milestones

  • managing the mechanical design and integration of lens mounts, ensuring legal compliance and functional performance in various markets

  • reviewing and releasing complex 3D CAD and 2D drawings using CATIA V5/V6 to meet craftsmanship, weight, and cost targets.

  • supporting in-house development projects, feasibility studies, and RFQs with technical input, design concepts, and trade-off analysis

  • staying ahead of emerging technologies and regulations while mentoring team members and implementing best practices in optomechanical design

You inspire us by

  • your strong educational background in optical or mechanical engineering, with a Master's or PhD adding valuable depth to your profile

  • bringing over 10 years of hands-on engineering experience in optical design, particularly in imaging, projection, and optomechanical systems with tight tolerances

  • demonstrating deep expertise in lens manufacturing processes such as injection molding, plastic bonding, glass grinding, diamond turning, and freeform lens design

  • your strong command of optical simulation tools like Zemax and your ability to interpret and apply complex simulation results effectively

  • combining advanced technical skills in CATIA V5/V6 and GD&T with a solid understanding of materials including plastics, glass, and metals

  • managing complex projects under tight timing and budget constraints while ensuring precision, quality, and innovation

  • your comprehensive knowledge of DFMEA, DVP&R, and engineering documentation required for production-ready designs

  • mentoring others, sharing best practices, and fostering a collaborative, high-performance engineering culture

  • your ability to deliver advanced optomechanical integrations with a deep understanding of both optical and mechanical engineering fundamentals

  • your flexibility and global mindset, demonstrated by your willingness to travel to suppliers and plants, and to work seamlessly across teams and locations
