What you should know about the job

You face challenges like

  • development and design of instrument panels for premium vehicles

  • leading the full design phase from the first sketch to the final component release

  • tracking built issues that result in design changes to ensure technical expertise

  • ensuring all geometric requirements for each milestone delivery are analyzed and met

  • interfacing with studio, packaging, advanced engineering, manufacturing, and supplier activities to develop optimal design solutions

  • creating a bill of materials and indicating cost-down potentials and manufacturing improvements

  • creating CAD surfaces and solids, GD&T, and fastening designs using Catia V6

  • utilizing CAD methodologies, study files, slab models, and knowledge-based engineering

  • supporting the global purchasing group in the supplier nomination and decision-making phase to ensure the best qualities for every component of the instrument panel

  • traveling globally to the US headquarters, commodity suppliers, and contractors

You inspire us by

  • holding a Master of Science, Diplom-Ingenieur, or other Engineering Degree

  • bringing 8+ years of demonstrated experience as a detail-oriented Interior Components and Systems development lead for instrument panels

  • having a strong knowledge and understanding of the automotive interior components and systems industry, benchmarks, trends, and supplier competencies

  • creating, improving, and establishing technical product specifications and timelines to achieve an accelerated development cycle towards SOP

  • having vehicle and product launch experience

  • creating complex CAD models in CATIA V6 quickly and efficiently while maintaining excellent standards for CAD part, tree, links, and publications

  • demonstrating proven experience in interior processes such as wrapping, injection molding, painting, compression molding, and other state-of-the-art manufacturing processes

  • showcasing proven experience in common structural part manufacturing processes such as stamping, extrusion, and casting

  • applying geometrical dimensioning and tolerance in detail, including tolerance targets for component locators, attachment methods, and overall gap and flushness requirements

  • leveraging strong engineering fundamentals to create solutions that are not yet state of the art

  • being experienced in modal analysis, finite element method analysis, and computer fluid dynamics

  • leading cross-functional teams of different cultures and nationalities

  • being fluent in German and English, with a third language preferred

  • demonstrating a work ethic that results in the best solutions, even in continuously changing and high-pressure situations

  • having experience with one full program cycle from concept to production launch in automotive interior components and systems
